Hampta pass trek falls in Himachal Pradesh. It is at the height of 14,000 ft above sea level. On one side of the trek, you will notice the lush green forests of Kullu, blooming flowers of Kullu & the best view of the grassland but on the other side you will see barren mountains, arid places of Lahaul.
This trek is 25 km which will take 6 days to cover according to the Hampta pass trek package. We can put Hampta pass as the Himachal’s Valley of Flowers. So as you know Hampta pass is a two sided trek so you will start from Kullu side & end in the Spiti valley.

During the day, Chandratal lake reflects the aquamarine blue of the sky, while dusk paints it with a shadow of deep emerald. Whereas upon nightfall, it turns sparkling black. Here you can also get the chance to see local herdsmen graze their herds, in the huge greens dotted with wildflowers that surround Lake Chandratal.
Kasol- Kasol is a small hamlet nestled in the parvati valley. Kasol is renowned for its scenic beauty, breathtaking views pf himalayan peak , vibrant culture and calm atmosphere.
Solang Valley- Solang Valley is known as the adventure hub of manali, it offers activities like snowboarding, skiing, paragliding and zorbing. The valley's stunning landscape is a sight to behold.
Rohtang Pass- Although it's often crowded with tourists, Rohtang Pass offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It is accessible from Manali and serves as the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti valley.
Atal Tunnel- Atal Tunnel is also known as the Rohtang Pass Tunnel. It is the country's first tunnel to have an escape tunnel with a main tunnel.
Gulaba- Gulaba is a village renowned for its natural beauty, picturesque landscapes and serene atmosphere. It's an ideal place for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers and photographers.
Vashistha- Located at just a smattering of kilometers from Manali, these natural hot water springs have some medicinal properties. Many trekkers visit here before or after the trek, a must visit place.
Kullu- Kullu is often referred as “The Valley of Gods” due to its mythological significance and breathtaking landscapes. Trekkers can explore quaint villages, ancient temples and traditional architecture.
If you are going to do Hampta Pass trek so you must prepare something before that so lets understand about them:
Physical fitness- If you are going to do any trek, you must have good physical fitness because when you are going to walk from the first day to the last day. Physical Fitness is the most important thing whether you are doing a trek or not. If you have physical fitness then only the endurance can be created which will help you to cover the distance.
Acclimatization- Hampta pass Trek is placed at high altitude, acclimatization is mainly to prevent altitude sickness. Spend a couple of days in nearby places and then start the trek,so that your body can become equal to the high altitude. You can live easily in the environment.
Gear and Equipment- We must have all the equipment & gears which are going to be useful on the trek. These equipment will help the trekker to trek safely. Some of the equipment which are used there are: Trekking Shoes, Trekking Pants, Trekking Jackets, Poncho, Trek Pole, Water Bottle, Woolen Cap, Head Torch.
Pack Light- We must pack less so that we can move easily on the mountain. As we know that we are going to walk on a steep not plain area so we must pack a very light backpack which we can easily carry with us.
Hydration and Nutrition- Hydration & Nutrition is a must while doing any trek because when you are doing a trek you will get your body physically active in it. All the Nutrition of your body will get consumed. Hydration is also important because when you are at altitude so your body may not acclimatize according to the environment & if you are not hydrated then you can have AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). In this sickness we are not going to die but there are some problems you can have like Headache, Swelling etc.

Beginning your Hampta Pass Trek during the months of mid-june to september is a lovely experience. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for trekking with clear skies, mild temperature and minimal drizzle. The snow gradually starts to melt from the month of june uncovering the scenic beauty of the mountains and trails. Trekkers can see the transformation of the landscape as lush green meadows emerge amidst the towering peaks. July and August mark the peak trekking season, with the trail visible and the weather being the most steady.
Moving on to Autumn, from September to November, the ascent still maintains its allure. The weather remains stable and clear, providing superb visibility of the surrounding peaks. Temperature begins to drop but it's still comfortable for trekking, and the landscape transitions into a stunning canvas of Autumn hues.
Spring, spanning from March to May, offers another delightful window for Hampta Trek. As the weather warms and snow gradually starts to recede, the landscapes burst into life with vibrant greenery, with fewer crowds compared to summer, trekkers can enjoy a more serene experience, though there still may be lingering snow at the higher peak.
