YES, you should be OK traveling to Ladakh with a 7-year-old Child. In any case, please acclimatize yourself well.

Ladakh is not really 'dangerous for elders' place. It is high in altitude but as long as you are in good health with no ailments, you are free to travel to Ladakh as you would to any other place. Some general precautions that are applicable to everyone will apply to elders as well.

There could be some minor breathing problems when you'll reach very high altitude so I suggest you to take precautions and carry some emergency items accordingly.

In general, travelling to Leh Ladakh with children is safe, but as a parent, you must take certain precautions before embarking on such an adventure. Of course, you should consult your physician before making any plans for your vacation to Ladakh. 

In general, it is safe to bring children of this age group because AMS does not discriminate based on age, gender, or fitness ability. It can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level. I believe a 5-year-old youngster would be able to articulate his or her anxiety with minimal effort. If you notice such a feeling or he/she informs you about it, please do not ascend anyplace; instead, either descend to a lower altitude or stay in the same area to monitor things overnight.
