About Meghalaya With Kaziranga 8 Days 7 Nights Tour

Our “Meghalaya and Kaziranga Adventure” tour takes you on an ever-memorable journey throughout Northeast India. The Meghalaya with Kaziranga 8 Days 7 Nights Tour Package starts in Guwahati which serves as the entry to that region before transporting you to Meghalaya which is a fascinating state. This place known as the “Abode of Clouds”, will hold your attention with its mountains veiled by mist, living bridges made from roots and falling water.

You will also visit Shillong, a nice city; Umngot River in Dawki having clear waters; Cherrapunji’s beauty that fills one with awe and wonder. The journey does not stop there however as it proceeds into the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for rhinoceroses that have only one horn left in this world. Here, there are adventurous jeep rides where tourists may be able to see animals in their natural habitats. The last part of this vacation includes cultural activities around Guwahati involving visits to some temples and time reserved for buying souvenirs. This thoughtfully planned Meghalaya Tour Package intermixes wildlife viewing events with culture immersions and nature experiences thereby leaving one with a kaleidoscope of memories from North East India that can never be forgotten.

Best Places to Visit in Meghalaya with Kaziranga Tour

1. Cherrapunji: Sohra, as it is locally known, is said to be the wettest place on earth. These living roots bridges are a great wonder of bioengineering where rubber tree roots have been trained by Khasi people to grow into strong bridges over rivers. They become stronger and last for centuries. Nohkalikai Falls, with its 340 meter-drop, is an amazing sight especially during monsoons.

2. Dawki: The Umngot River in Dawki is famous for its clear white water. On a sunny day, the river seems invisible and boats appear to float in midair. The same river also marks the natural boundary between India and Bangladesh. The hills around and suspension bridge make it more picturesque.

3. Mawlynnong: This village values cleanliness and has developed community-based eco-tourism projects. The living root bridge here is single-decker (unlike some other such formations in this state) but easily accessible than others in this State. Besides, there is a bamboo sky view platform that enables you get unique view of surrounding plains of Bangladesh.

4. Shillong: Popular as “Scotland of the East” Shillong encompasses natural beauty mixed with colonial buildings structures. One can see all parts of town from Shillong Peak’s summit. It is also known as music capital as well as educational hub for north east India.

5. Mawsmai Cave: This limestone cave offers an adventurous experience with its narrow passages. The cave is well-lit, revealing intricate formations. It's relatively short but gives a good taste of caving for beginners.

6. Kaziranga National Park: Home to two-thirds of the world's one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga is a conservation success story. The park's landscape includes tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical broadleaf forests. Besides rhinos, it hosts significant populations of tigers, elephants, and various bird species.

7. Elephant Falls: Located near Shillong, this three-tiered waterfall is easily accessible. The falls are named after a rock resembling an elephant that once stood nearby but has since eroded away.

8. Don Bosco Museum: This modern museum in Shillong offers a comprehensive look at Northeast Indian cultures. Its seven floors cover everything from traditional attire and weapons to musical instruments and lifestyle exhibits of various tribes.

9. Laitlum Canyons: Offering dramatic views of deep gorges and rolling hills, Laitlum is off the usual tourist track. The name means "End of Hills" in the local Khasi language. It's a paradise for trekkers and nature lovers.

10. Mawphlang Sacred Grove: This ancient forest is preserved due to religious beliefs of the Khasi people. It's a biodiversity hotspot with numerous plant species, some with medicinal properties. The grove is central to many local myths and legends.

Things to do in Meghalaya with Kaziranga Tour

  • Trek to Double Decker Root Bridge: This special trek brings you to admire Nongriat village where the legendary Double Decker Root Bridge is situated. The hike invades about 3 500 concrete steps to be climbed and to cross steel wire suspension bridges. The living root bridge, the rubber tree roots over generations, are trained to grow and make a bridge – must be seen to be believed in Khasi people’s creativity. Cutting across mountainous terrains with steep slopes, the trek offers you a chance to take a dip in pristine water streams or pools at the waterfalls.
  • Caving in Mawsmai: Lush green forest with narrow slippery trails, Mawsmai cave is an ideal place for the first experience of caving. These structures form various complicated patterns and figures, and the limestone appears to be very strong. However much of the cave has been made accessible for review with lights; a number of areas call for crawling through small crevices adding on the thrill. This is very useful especially during hot summer days; one can get a close look at the geological past of the area.
  • Boating on Umngot River: From boats floating on what seems like champagne-colored water in Dawki to Umngot River with water as clear as crystal. The best time to come is during the dry season that is between the month of October and March when the water is quite clean. Apart from the boat riding and tour, the visitors can have a quality picnic on the riverside, fishing is another activity to explore, and the view of the India-Bangladesh border is also a major attraction site.
  • Visit Mawlynnong: This village has recently received attention for having public cleanliness and for implementing community based ecotourism. To augment its aesthetics, Sky View – a structure made out of bamboo having a height of 85 ft from the ground level – provides a panoramic view of the landscape as well as into Bangladesh.
  • Explore Shillong's markets: Shillong’s markets selling all things related to the area are worth visiting for sets of local items. Polis Mor is the central commercial zone where everything from convention weaves to contemporary products is purchased. This market is worth a visit; it is one of the oldest and largest markets in the Northeastern region of India. Most popular Cameroonian dishes include; Jadoh which is rice and any kind of meat or fish and Kwai; a local street snack best made from betel nuts.
  • Jeep safari in Kaziranga: Tourism in Kaziranga is again splitted into two, the morning and the evening safari. Eastern and Western sides of the park and the central part thereof differ in the type of terrains to be seen and in the number of animals to watch. Besides the one-horned rhinoceros, while on the banks of the rivers, you get a chance to see wild elephants or swamp deer or even the tigers if you are lucky. It is also, equally, a paradise for people interested in bird watching, as there are many types of migratory and local birds.
  • Witness Living Root Bridges: Besides the famous double-decker bridge, there are several single-decker bridges in villages like Mawlynnong and Riwai. They take 15-30 years to become fully functional and can support the weight of 50 people at a time.
  • Chasing Waterfalls: Meghalaya is a paradise for waterfall enthusiasts. Nohkalikai Falls, plunging from a height of 1115 feet, is particularly spectacular during the monsoon. Elephant Falls, named after an elephant-shaped rock at its base, offers easy access and beautiful views. Kynrem Falls, one of the highest in Meghalaya, is a three-tier fall offering a magnificent sight.
  • Adventure Sports: Meghalaya is increasingly becoming popular for adventure sports. The zip-line in Mawkdok Dympep Valley offers stunning views of the East Khasi Hills. Shillong and its surroundings offer numerous opportunities for rock climbing and rappelling. River rafting on the Umtrew River provides an adrenaline rush with its rapids.
