Dal Lake: The star attraction of Srinagar, it is a wide-stretched lake having floating gardens and houseboats as its specialty. Travelers can take up the shikara rides, see the floating vegetable market, and be a part of life being lived on the lake.
Mughal Gardens: The Mughal Gardens in Srinagar were a series of perfectly manicured Persian-style gardens, reflecting the love of nature and architecture of the Mughal emperors. A well-landscaped terraced lawn with cascading fountains and flowers of every hue make these gardens an extremely peaceful retreat.
Nishat Bagh: Situated on the east bank of the famous Dal Lake and offering a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains, this "Garden of Joy" is the second-largest Mughal garden in Kashmir. It was reserved for faranas, and it had twelve terraces representing the zodiac signs.
Shalimar Bagh: Shalimar Bagh is the largest Mughal garden in Kashmir, built by the Mughal King Jahangir for his beloved Nur Jahan. There are four terraces in this garden, with a central canal that flows through the garden's length. It is supplied by beautiful fountains. This garden is particularly known for its chinar trees and evening illumination.
Apharwat Peak: The Apharwat Peak is situated at an elevation of 13,780 feet and accessed via the Gondola, but this serves most as the points for skiing in winter and for trekking during summer. At this point, it renders unparalleled views of the mountain ranges all around and the Kashmir Valley below.
Alpather Lake: Only a short distance from Apharwat Peak, this small alpine lake is frozen for most of the year. An experience of serene beauty and the high-altitude environment of Gulmarg is gained during one of the popular treks in summer.
St. Mary's Church: Beautifully constructed in the style of Victorians back in 1902, this beautiful structure is a small wooden church. Amongst snow-laden peaks and pine forests, this tiny wooden church brings forth a glimpse into the colonial past of Gulmarg.
Gulmarg Golf Course: One of the highest in the world, Gulmarg Golf Course is a challenge to any golfer due to the peculiar township and exquisite view. Aru Valley: Located 12 km from Pahalgam, Aru Valley is picturised in a meadow with snow-laden peaks all around it. This serene valley gives great landscapes for nature walks and photography from its scene. It serves as a base camp for the treks to Kolahoi Glacier and Tarsar Lake and, hence, interests adventure enthusiasts.
Betaab Valley: This is a breathtaking valley attributed to the Bollywood movie Betaab, which was shot at the place, situated very adjacent to Pahalgam. Being famous for its green meadows, pine forests, and the gushing Sheshnag River, it's a popular picnic spot. The natural beauty of the valley provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation and scenic walks.

By Air: The central or the main airport in Kashmir is the Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport, situated in Srinagar. It is fairly well-connected to major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Jammu. From these places, flights come directly every day, so by air, it becomes the fastest way of reaching Kashmir.
By Road: Kashmir is linked by road with all major parts of India. The highway circuit is NH- 44 (old NH-1A) between Jammu and Srinagar. From Jammu to Srinagar, a travel distance of about 300 km takes around 8-10 hours. Private cars, taxis, and buses are available for this route.
By Train: While there is no direct railway connectivity to Srinagar, you can reach the Jammu Tawi railway station, the latter being well-connected with major Indian metropolitan cities. From Jammu, you can move towards Srinagar via taxi or bus.
Spring (March to early May): Kashmir bursts into life with varicolored blossoms amidst mild temperatures. The famous Tulip Festival that takes place in the month of April will see millions of tulips in full bloom. This season is just perfect for sightseeing, leisure walks, and viewing rejuvenated sceneries, having tourists with moderate crowds.
Summer: Temperature ranges from 14°C to 30°C, quite pleasant. It's the main tourist season, and also suitable for activities like trekking, camping, and water sports. Markets are full of life, and so are the points of interest. However, it can get a bit too crowded at times.
Autumnal Season (September to November): Autumn depicts Kashmir in golden vivid tints as leaves change color. The weather is still bearable for sightseeing. Saffron fields of Pampore come out in full bloom, displaying a unique scene. There are less rush of tourists, consequently the ambience is better.
Winter (December to February): Snowfall turns Kashmir into a winter wonderland fit for fairy tales. Gulmarg is thus transformed into paradise for skiers and snowboarders, while Dal Lake freezes regularly, often creating surreal tableaux. While tourists are few and far between in most places, ski resorts ring alive with winter sports-lovers.
