Best Places to Visit in Gulmarg Srinagar 5 Days Tour

1. Gulmarg Gondola: This ropeway has two stations. The first stage from Gulmarg to Kongdori is 5 km long and takes about 9 minutes. The second stage reaches Apharwat Peak, to which, on fine days, offers a view of Nanga Parbat. In winter, it is home to skiers; otherwise, in summer, it is fully covered with greenery.

2. Alpather Lake: Also known as the Frozen Lake, it is surrounded by snow-covered mountains. The path to the lake is very demanding but is rewarding. This lake is completely frozen during the winter and can be skated upon. This area is abundant with large numbers of Flora and Fauna.

3. St.Mary's Church: The tiny church was initially constructed for Britons in the area; it does not serve much for services these days. Architecturally, it is a mix of Victorian and Gothic style and contains beautiful, colored glass windows and old, carved wooden frames inside.

4. Dal Lake: This urban lake, covering about 18 sq km, is the jewel of Srinagar. It is famous for its floating gardens, known as "Rad" in Kashmiri. The lake changes its character with seasons, lotus blooms in summer and vegetable cultivation in winter.

5. Hazratbal Shrine: It is an impressive white mosque made from marble in the region and the only mosque with a dome in Srinagar. This mosque is also known for its housing of the Moi-e-Muqaddas, a hair from the beard of Prophet Mohammad.

6. Pari Mahal: Initially, it was a library and a home built for Prince Dara Shikoh. It later transformed to be an observatory. The garden possesses seven terraces which offer a panoramic view of Dal Lake and Srinagar.

7. Lal Chowk: It is the commercial hub of the city, named after the Red Square of Moscow. A clock tower was erected here in 1980. This is an ideal vantage point for viewing the local culture of people and for buying exquisite handicrafts done by the Kashmiris themselves.

8. Dachigam National Park: Covering an area of 141 square kilometers, this park is a vital refuge for the Hangul (Kashmiri Stag). It also is the abode for the Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard and several other birds. These forests are sub-divided into Lower and Upper Dachigam and have relatively separate trekking facilities.

9. Drung Village and Waterfall: An offbeat destination for its serene beauty, it cascades from a height of about 100 feet, surrounded by plush greenery. The small village offers a glimpse into traditional Kashmiri rural life. It is an ideal spot for day trips from Gulmarg, with ample opportunities to take short treks and picnics.

10. Shankaracharya Temple: Dating back to 200 BC, this temple sits on a hill 1,100 feet above Srinagar. It's dedicated to Lord Shiva and requires climbing about 240 steps to reach. The temple offers a 360-degree view of Srinagar city.

11. Mughal Gardens: These Persian-style gardens were built by Mughal emperors. Nishat Bagh is known as the "Garden of Joy," Shalimar Bagh as the "Abode of Love," and Chashme Shahi as the "Royal Spring." Each garden has unique features like terraces, fountains, and flower beds.
