How to Reach Dharamshala Dalhousie

By Air: The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport, also known as Kangra Airport, 13 km from the city center of Dharamshala. It is well-connected to Delhi. Hire a taxi from there to Dharamshala. Dalhousie lies about 145 km from Dharamshala and can be hired by taxi or bus.

By Train: The nearest railway station of major service is Pathankot, which is about 85 km from Dharamshala and 80 km from Dalhousie. It has regular trains to most cities. From Pathankot, one takes a bus or taxi to either destination.

By Bus: Both Dharamshala and Dalhousie are well-connected by bus services. Both private and public buses operate from Delhi, Chandigarh, and other North Indian cities regularly. The journey is quite scenic but long; from Delhi, it might take typically around 10-12 hours or so.

By Car: Driving gives flexibility, views, and experiences. Delhi to Dharamshala is about a 480 km drive, and Dalhousie is around 560 km. The good highways comfort the journey, though mountainous stretches need careful driving.

Best Time to Visit Dharamshala Dalhousie

Monsoon (July to September): These months bring excess rainfall in the region. The landscape turns lush and beautiful, but it might let down the excitement towards outdoor activities. Chances of landslides are also there, and thus one should ensure the road conditions before traveling.

Autumn (October to November): It is the next best season to visit with the temperature ranging between 10°C to 25°C or 50°F to 77°F. The weather becomes clear and crisp, and there would be brilliant views available of the Himalayas. This becomes the perfect time for trekking, other outdoor activities, and sports.

Winter (December to February): The temperature may come down nearly to freezing, with the cold more biting in the nights.
