Chakrata is a beautiful hill retreat near Dehradun in Uttarakhand, a military cantonment town positioned amidst the lush green meadows, soul-soothing waterfalls, caves and ancient temples. Situated at 7000 ft above the sea level, Chakrata is far from any touristy chaos and thus offers the much-needed break from the urban madness.
A roadtrip to this lesser-known offbeat destination in Uttarakhand will impress you with its untouched natural beauty, blissful surroundings and restful stays.
Chakrata was earlier known as Jaunsar Bawar, a small hamlet of Jaunsari tribe. Kharamba peak is the highest mountain in Chakrata with an altitude of about 10,000 ft above sea level. This hill station in Uttarakhand is a nice option for bird-watching and a quick de-stressing weekend escape from city life.

Itinerary

- Start an overnight journey to Chakrata by Tempo Traveler or mini bus.
