Places to Visit in Andaman 9 Days Tour

Port Blair - The capital of Andaman, Port Blair, is a mix of history and nature. Get a dose of the infamous Cellular Jail, Light & Sound Show, Anthropological Museum, and relaxation at Corbyn's Cove Beach all in one go. Watch the sunsets at Chidiya Tapu.

Havelock Island - Havelock Island is a paradise for beach enthusiasts and those who like to indulge in water sports. Do not miss out on the highly recommended Radhanagar Beach, which continues to feature among the best beaches in Asia. Go snorkeling at Elephanta Beach, relax at Kalapathar Beach, and scuba dive in crystal clear waters.

Neil Island - While Havelock is a bit bigger and more crowded, Neil is just the right place for a peaceful vacation. Bharatpur Beach is great for water sports, Laxmanpur Beach has breathtaking sunset scenes. At low tide, one can walk right up to the Natural Bridge rock formation. Sitapur Beach is ideal for viewing the sunrise.

Ross Island - Abundant with colonial history, especially Ross Island, which is a short boat ride from Port Blair, it showcases the ruins of British-era buildings reclaimed by nature. Take a leisurely walk across the island, spotting deer and peacocks along the way.

North Bay Island - North Bay Island is the hub of coral reefs. Take a glass-bottomed boat ride to get a glimpse of the Colorful underwater world without getting wet. The more adventurous take a closer look at the colorful marine life while snorkeling here.

Baratang Island - Baratang Island presents unique geological wonders. Move through dense mangrove creeks to limestone caves and bubbling Mud volcanoes. The boat ride itself is an adventure and offers a view of the vast Andaman ecosystem.

Diglipur - Diglipur in North Andaman is all about offbeat experiences. Trek in Saddle Peak National Park, relax and enjoy the pristine flow of the Kalpong River; and see twin islands of Ross and Smith connected by a sandbar.

Cellular Jail - Cellular Jail Called 'Kala Pani', this erstwhile colonial prison, which has now evolved into a national memorial, possesses architecture and history that gives deep insights into India's freedom struggle. An evening Light & Sound Show dramatically narrates the jail's past and prisoners' experiences.

Chatham Saw Mill - Chatham Saw Mill is perhaps the oldest and largest in Asia. It offers exhibition archaeological annals of the timber industry in Andaman. Take a round of this mill to learn about wood processing and get first-hand exposure to a wide range of wood varieties unique to these islands.

Elephanta Beach - This Elephanta Beach on Havelock Island is the center of activities regarding water sports. Jet-skiing, banana boat ride, or even parasailing is not a problem here. Its crystal clear waters with coral reefs, a treat for snorkeling, provide glimpses of colorful, vibrant marine life.

Natural Bridge - So, the Natural Bridge in Neil Island is none other than a very unique rock formation created by coral deposits. This is one of the great geological formations surrounded by tidal pools, abounding in sea life. It provides good photo opportunities and a chance to expose the island's natural beauty to visitors.

Saddle Peak National Park - Spread over 85 square kilometers, the Saddle Peak National Park in Diglipur is the highest point of Andaman, and the view from its top is panoramic of the archipelago. It abounds in a wide variety of flora and fauna, including those species endemic only to the Andaman Islands.

Ross and Smith Islands - Ross and Smith Islands are connected by a sand bar and naturally develop a lagoon. Ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The sand bar, visible only during low tide, reveals a beautiful walkway that connects the two islands.

Mud Volcanoes - Another freaky geographical phenomenon found in Baratang are the mud volcanoes. A couple of small, volcano-like mounds which periodically emit natural gas and mud. Not much on the aesthetic level, definitely of scientific interest and certainly not your usual touristy scene.

Anthropological Museum - The Anthropological Museum in Port Blair has on display the various cultures of the Andaman indigenous tribes. Tools, weapons, and other artifacts that are on display give an insight into the unique lifestyle of the original inhabitants of these islands. It's a must-visit for understanding Andaman's rich cultural heritage.

Kalapathar Beach - On Havelock Island, there is a beach named Kalapathar Beach, which gets its name from the streak of black rock that lines its coast. The vast stretch of white sand, turquoise water, and darkly barren rocks form a really beautiful landscape—so it is ideal for photography and peaceful walks.

Chidiya Tapu - Chidiya Tapu, otherwise known as 'Bird Island', is a place to witness a wide section of birds and a paradise for birdwatchers. It grabbed eyeballs with its scintillating sunsets and variety of birds. The beach at this place is suitable for walking in the evening and viewing some unique flora and fauna.

Sitapur Beach - Sitapur Beach, actually located at Neil Island, offers magnificent views of sunrise. The golden rays across the sea add to its magical view. This quiet little spot is one which can meditate or do yoga in the early morning hours and provides the exact start to your day.

Kalpong River - Diglipur runs along the Kalpong River, the only river in the Andamans. It abounds with freshwater fishing and scenic boat rides. Lush forests surround it, adding to its natural beauty and tranquility.

Corbyn's Cove Beach - Not very far from Port Blair lies Corbyn's Cove Beach, where watersports and beach activities take place. With coconut palms lining its seafront, the view is picturesque for relaxation and recreation very near to the city.

Limestone caves - Limestone caves here in Baratang Island form a nice example with helter-skelter stalactite and stalagmite formations. The trip requires one to travel through dense mangrove creeks, which itself is another kind of adventurous boat journey, giving stiff competition to the sights of diverse ecosystems on the islands.

Things to do in Andaman 9 Days Trip

Beach hopping: Andaman beaches are one of the best in the world. Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island is at times placed among Asia's best, too, with its pristine white sands and turquoise water. Then there's Elephanta Beach with its chain of water sports, and at Kalapathar, the somber experience with its unique black rock formations.

Scuba diving, snorkeling: Andaman Sea is literally a diver's paradise. Havelock Island has numerous dive sites that cater to both the beginner and experienced diver. Be prepared to explore vibrant coral reefs, swim alongside colorful fish, and even descend to shipwrecks. For those venturing into the realm of underwater activities for the first time, snorkeling is equally good to see the myriad colors in marine life.

Water sports: Many beaches offer enthralling water sports activities. Jet skiing will give you an adrenaline rush as you whizz across the waves. Parasailing provides superb aerial views of the islands. Banana boat rides are enjoyable group activities, perfect for families or groups of friends.

Island tours: Each island in Andaman has its uniqueness. Ross Island showcases remains of British colonial architecture now reclaimed by nature. North Bay Island is famous for its lighthouse and coral reefs. Baratang Island offers unique limestone caves and mud volcanoes.

Mangrove kayaking: This is an eco-friendly activity that allows one to get up close and personal with the rich biodiversity within Andaman's mangrove forests. While paddling through the narrow creeks, you might be able to spot a number of birds, snakes, and even saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat.

Trekking: Many treks are available for nature and adventure-lovers. The trail to Mount Harriet gives breathtaking views of the surrounding islands. Harder treks and unique flora and fauna are found in Saddle Peak National Park in North Andaman.

Bioluminescent Beach: This enchanting experience can be found on some beaches of Havelock Island. Small phytoplankton release blue light when disturbed, which in the dark at night gives this starry effect over the water. Best observed during moonless nights, it creates an ethereal, glowing shoreline every time waves crash or your footsteps occur along the water's edge.

Glass-bottom boat rides: That's the most popular sport at North Bay Island and also in the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. The boats come with an extended transparent floor section through which one can view coral reefs and colorful fish without getting wet. It's a great option for people who want to see marines but aren't comfortable swimming or snorkeling.

Lounge on secluded beaches: While popular beaches are beautiful in themselves, there is an Andaman for those seeking solitude too. So, to enjoy a peaceful sunrise, Sitapur Beach on Neil Island is perfect, while Butler Bay Beach on Little Andaman is little crowded and offers good surfing.

Try local cuisine: Andaman is a potpourri of Indian, Southeast Asian, and indigenous flavors. Fresh seafood undoubtedly forms a specialty: try fish curry, grilled lobster, or crab masala. Also, relish the fresh tropical fruits, like mangoes, pineapples, and the unique Andaman berry.

Sunset viewing: Andaman offers a few of the most spectacular sunsets. Chidiya Tapu is otherwise known as Sunset Point since it is famous for these views presented in the evening. Radhanagar Beach, Havelock Island, also provided a stunning backdrop for sunset photography.

Bird watching: The islands are a haven for birdwatchers. Chidiya Tapu is literally the "Bird Island." Home to many endemic species, Mount Harriet National Park offers sightings of rare birds like the Andaman Woodpecker and the Andaman Cuckoo Dove. Photography: Andaman is a photographer's destination, with its pristine beaches, lush forests, historical sites, and vibrant marine life. Capture colonial architecture in Port Blair, unique limestone formations in Baratang, or the many styles of wildlife in the national parks.

How to Reach Andaman from India

By Air: It is the most popular and efficient way of reaching Andaman and in the most efficient way. The Veer Savarkar International Airport is well-connected to major Indian metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore. It normally takes anywhere between 2 hours and 4 hours for reaching the travel destination once it is boarded from the originating city. Advanced booking for tickets is advisable for peak tourist seasons, October to May. Flights get full pretty fast during this time.

Best Time to Visit Andaman

The best time to visit the Andaman Islands is from October to May. During this period, the weather is pleasant and dry, making it ideal for beach activities and water sports. The clear waters offer excellent visibility for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. The peak tourist season falls between December and March, when the islands are busiest but also at their most vibrant.

It's advisable to avoid the monsoon season from June to September, as heavy rains can disrupt travel plans and outdoor activities. October and November, as well as April and May, offer a good balance of favorable weather and fewer crowds, potentially providing a more relaxed experience for visitors.
