One of the best treks in India Kedarkantha is a fun winter trek that takes the seriousness out of trekking. It is almost like going on a 5-day active vacation. The trek is recommended for all adventure souls who like snow and high mountains, irrespective of the prior experience. Beginners are more than welcome. Kedarkantha Trek starts from Sankri in Uttarakhand which is one of the best trekking places in India. The highlights of Kedarkantha trek are the beautiful campsites, snow-covered pine forests, 360-degree view of the mountains and the chance to stand on top of one of the easiest trekkable peaks in the Himalayas. The total Kedarkantha trek distance is 23 Kms. The height of the Kedarkantha peak is 12,500 ft.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Drive to Sankri 


    Pick up from Dehradun ISBT and drive to Sankri.

    Sankri village is the starting point of the Kedarkantha trek. It is located in Govind Pashu Wildlife Sanctuary, 210 km away from the Dehradun city of Uttarakhand. The maximum drive is along the Yamuna River until you reach the Tons valley. 

    After reaching the village, check in to our hotel/guest house.

    Dinner & Overnight stay.


  • Day 2

    Trek to Juda ka Taal from Sankri (9000 Ft.)


    Take Breakfast.

    Start the trekking to Juda Ka Taal Campsite. 

    Juda Ka Taal is 4 km away from Sankari, so it takes around 3-4 hours to reach there. The initial trail passes through the dense pine forest which gets covered with snow during the winter season. There is a small pond located near the campsite. The pond looks mesmerising and get frozen during the winter season.

    Dinner and overnight stay in camps.


  • Day 3

    Juda Ka Taal - Kedarkantha Base Camp (11200 FT)


    Wake up and enjoy the amazing scenery of Juda Ka Taal pond.

    Take breakfast and get ready for an uphill trek to the base camp of Kedarkantha. The trail to the basecamp is bit steeper than the previous day’s trail. 

    After the hiking of half an hour, will reach at a small meadow land from where you will experience the view of snow-capped Himalayan peaks. 

    It takes around 4-5 hours to reach the base camp.
    Dinner and overnight stay in camps.


  • Day 4

    Kedarkantha Base Camp- Kedarkantha (12,500 FT) to Juda Ka Taal


    This will be our main day of Kedarkantha trek. We trek to the summit point which is located at an altitude of 12,500 feet (3210 meters). 

    Wake up early in the morning. 

    Take breakfast and start the trek to Kedarkantha Peak.
    Once you are done with the sunrise, start nourishing your knowledge about various Himalayan peaks of Garhwal region and Kinnaur region. Some of the peaks are Gangotri, Swargarohini, Banderpooch, Kinner Kailash, etc. 

    Trek down to Juda Ka Taal.
    Dinner and overnight stay in camps at Juda Ka Taal.


  • Day 5

    Juda Ka Taal - Sankri- Dehradun (6 Kms Trek)


    This will be our final trek day. 

    Take breakfast and start our downhill trek from Juda Ka Taal to reach Sankri. The trek is 4 km long and the descent is quite steep.

    It will take 4 hours and you will reach Sankri.

    After reaching Sankri, will start the drive towards Delhi.

  • Transportation from Dehradun to Dehradun: Taxi/Tempo Traveler.
  • Accommodation on sharing basis: Camps & guesthouse (Sankri).
  • Experienced and cool trek guide.
  • All meals at the time of trek.
  • Driver allowances, toll taxes, parking, state taxes.

Exclusions

  • Any extra meals apart from the ones mentioned under inclusions.
  • Travel Insurance, items of a personal nature like porterage, tips, laundry etc.
  • Any entry fees, extra expenses for optional activities or tickets, unless quoted in Inclusions.
  • Any other costing involved due to circumstances like natural calamity, weather conditions, riots, roadblocks, landslides or any other forced circumstances which are out of our control.
  • GST (5%) is applicable extra.
  • Anything which is not mentioned in the above inclusions.
