10 Extremely Useful Tips To Tackle AMS On Your Trip To Spiti Valley

1. Take the Shimla route to get well acclimatized

2. Do not over exert yourself on your Spiti trip

3. Keep a couple of rest days in between to get well acclimatized

4. Only sleep at 1000 ft higher than previous Night to avoid AMS on your Spiti trip

5. Go on Preventive course of Diamox on your Spiti trip

6. Avoid any kind of intoxication on your trip to Spiti to avoid AMS

7. If you are coming from Manali head straight to Kaza or Tabo

8. Do not sleep at Chandrataal on your first night If coming from Manali

9. Plan your Spiti Itinerary well to ensure proper acclimatization

10. Make sure fit for your trip to Spiti

    From Rishikesh to Valley Of Flowers you can reach by the followings ways:

    1)By train: The nearest railway station to Valley Of Flowers is Rishikesh from where you can hire a taxi or take a bus till Govindghat  which is around 274kms from Rishikesh. From there you have to commence the trek of 16kms to reach Valley of Flowers.

    2)By road: Valley of flowers is connected till Pulna Village which is 4km from Govind Ghat with motorable roads and from here you have to commence the trek of 13kms for Valley Of Flowers. Buses and taxis are easily available for and from the major destinations of Uttarakhand .Buses to Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Srinagar are easily available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate.

    Buses and taxis  to Govindghat are easily available from major destinations like Rishikesh, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Karnprayag. Ukhimath, Srinagar, Chamoli etc.


    The road route from Delhi is like:

    1.Delhi-Meerut-Haridwar-Rishikesh-Rudraprayg-Joshimath-Govindghat-PulnaVillage-Trek(13km)-ValleyOf Flowers.

    2.Road route via Haldwani Ranikhet (Kumaon Region)
       Haldwani -Ranikhet -Karnprayag -Joshimath -Govindghat - PulnaVillage-Trek(13km)-ValleyOf Flowers.

    Hi,

    Govindghat, the starting point for the 18-kilometer Valley of Flowers walk, is approximately 255 kilometres from Rishikesh. Rishikesh, located 273 kilometres from the valley, is well-connected to Govindghat by motorable roads. You can also plan to travel by car from Govindghat to Joshimath (depending on your timetable). Joshimath is around an hour away from Govindghat.

    The trip from Rishikesh to Govindghat takes approximately 9-10 hours. The drive from Rishikesh to Valley of Flowers is breathtaking. The ideal season to travel this place is from mid-July to the last week of August. The flowers are in full bloom during this time, and you can see the valley's scenic beauty at its best.

    There can be 2 ways to reach Valley of flowers from Rishikesh


    By Train: The nearest railway station to Valley of flowers is Rishikesh after that you have to go by road to Govind Ghat, this is the place where the trek of  Valley of Flowers starts.

    By Road: Valley of flowers is connected till Pulna Village by road which is 4km from Govind Ghat after that trek starts.
