Kodachadri is a mountain peak (1343m above the sea level) with dense Tropical rain forests in the Western Ghats in South India, 78km from Shimoga. It is declared as a natural heritage site by the Karnataka Government and it is the 13th highest peak of Karnataka. The name of Kodachadri is derived from the words Kodacha and Adri, which in the local language means home of the hill jasmine flowers.

Kodachadri offers some most amazing landscapes that are home to numerous peaks and waterfalls, with pleasantly cool surroundings. It can be considered as the trekker's paradise and encompass everything from perfect dense forests to the meadows spreading everywhere and a view of Arabian sea making it a most ideal nature getaway to Bangalore. It is perfect for travellers seeking adventurous and spiritual experience. Situated in the middle of the Mookambika National Park, it is home to several endemic and endangered species of flora and fauna including Malabar langur, Malabar pied hornbill, Malabar grey hornbill, paradise flycatcher, tiger, leopard, elephant, hyena, gaur, Indian rock python and many more, of which several are threatened.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Assemble at the boarding point in Bangalore (Baroda Bank, Koramangala/ New Shanti Nagar hotel/ MG road) 

    Meet your trip leader and co travellers and socialise with them 

    Overnight journey to Gokarna.

  • Day 2

    Reach there by morning and check-in to camps.

    Freshen up and enjoy lavish breakfast. Without wasting any time, start the trek to Kodachadri. Make your way through farms, villages, grasslands and uneven trails. Take a halt at Hidlumane waterfall for an #instaperfect picture. Enjoy packed lunch near a local temple midway. Trek further to reach the Kodachadri peak. Witness the serenity at its best from the top. (On a clear day, you

    may be able to see your shadows in the clouds framed with rainbow) .Visit Sarvajna temple, also known as Mantapa where Adi Shankara is believed to have meditated . By sunset, descend to the campsite in your respective jeeps.

    Enjoy the bonfire with mouth watering snacks. Savour home style cooked dinner and overnight stay at camps.


  • Day 3

    Wake up to a beautiful sunrise in the lap of nature. Have breakfast and check-out

    Start traveling to Shivappa Nayaka Fort, Nagara (Nagara Fort).

    Enjoy the fort and capture all the moments. Learn their historical importance .


    After exploration drive back to Banglore. Here, the trip comes to an end with amazing trip memories.
