Holi - the festival of colours, is celebrated everywhere in India in various styles and as per different customs, but nothing like the Holi of Sangla. Nestled amidst the snow-capped Himalayas, Sangla is one of the most beautiful village in Kinnaur known for its tranquil landscapes. Temples, folklores and unadulterated natural beauty. Holi in Sangla is not just celebrated but revered. The valley gets draped in the vibrant colours of the festival of Holi. Dancing on the beats of drums and trumpets played by the locals to experience the local wine phasur, the entire Sangla Valley gets filled with magnetic energy. Come, experience the festival of colours in Himachal’s Kinnaur where natives demonstrate the thousand old traditions and culture in a dynamic manner.


  • Day 1

    Journey Begins

    Assemble at boarding point in Delhi - RK Ashram Metro Station/Majnu Ka Tila.

    Start an overnight journey to Shimla and socialize with your co-travellers.

  • Day 2

    Reach Sangla/Rakchham & Leisure

    After arriving in Shimla, we will take a halt near Theog or Narkanda for breakfast and soak in the much-needed #mountainvibes. Post breakfast, we will drive ahead to reach the beautiful Sangla valley.

    After arriving in Sangla/Rakchham, check in to our cozy homestay, freshen-up and have some leisure. Feel free to take a stroll around this gorgeous village and treat your stomach with a plate of hot momos in Sangla’s local market (if time permits we will visit Kamru Fort).

    In the evening, enjoy a warm bonfire, savour home-style cooked dinner and overnight stay in a homestay.

  • Day 3

    Holi Celebrations in Sangla

    Wake up early in the morning and post breakfast, we will head towards Nag Mandir in Sangla to take part in Holi celebrations as per local traditions. People from the whole valley and nearby villages gathers in Nag Mandir to celebrate the festival of colours with enchanting music of drums and trumpets. Try local wine phasur and dance on the beats of traditional Kinnauri music.

    Post Holi celebrations in Sangla village, return to our homestay, freshen-up and have some leisure. In the evening, savour home-style cooked dinner and overnight stay in a homestay.

  • Day 4

    Chitkul Visit & Holika Dahan in Sangla

    Wake up early in the morning and post breakfast, we will drive from Sangla to reach the last Indian village before the Indo-Tibetan border.

    After arriving in Chitkul, take a stroll around the village and visit Mathi Temple dedicated to the Goddess of the local people of Kinnaur. Treat your stomach with a satisfying plate of steamy momos or rajma chawal at ‘Hindustan Ka Akhri Dhaba’. What can be more magical than relaxing near to the pristine Baspa River? A perfect location in the lap of majestic Himalayas to disconnect from the urban madness and connect with nature.

    Post-Chitkul village exploration, quickly head towards Nag Mandir in Sangla to experience the Holika Dahan ritual, with people dressing traditionally and dancing in a huge circle around Holika. 

    Drive from Sangla to reach Kalpa, check in to our comfy hotel in Kalpa, savour home-style cooked dinner, and overnight stay in a hotel.

  • Day 5

    Kalpa & Kinnaur Kailash Views

    Wake up to a stunning view of Kinnaur Kailash range from your homely abode and post breakfast, drive from Kalpa to Shimla (if time permits we will visit Kalpa Monastery and Roghi Point).

    Reach Shimla in the evening and start-off your return journey to Delhi and reach Delhi the next day early morning.


  • Transportation: AC Semi-Sleeper Volvo bus (from Delhi to Shimla and back) and Tempo Traveler/Innova (from Shimla to Sangla and back).
  • Accommodation on sharing basis: Homestay (Sangla/Rakchham) and Hotel (Kalpa).
  • Experienced and cool trip leader.
  • Bonfire (if weather permits), explorations and activities.
  • Meals: Dinner (3), Breakfast (3).
  • Driver allowances, toll taxes, parking, state taxes.
